ESG Assessment

Assess and qualify suppliers on ESG against a framework (BRSR, GRI, ISO 14001, TCFD, SASB), with an immutable evidence trail and a frozen qualification result.

The workflow at a glance

Assign a template version → collect supplier disclosures → validate & review → compute a qualification snapshot → lock / place a legal hold.

1. Templates and versions

A template is an ESG questionnaire. It has versions, and only published versions can be assigned — so an assessment is always tied to a fixed, reproducible set of questions.

  • DocIQ ships starter templates (e.g. BRSR Core Supplier Readiness).
  • To build your own: create a template, add requirements to a draft version, then move it through the review workflow: Submit for review → Publish. Publishing is separation-of-duties aware (the reviewer who publishes should not be the author).
  • Templates in use cannot be deleted casually; deletion is guarded and, for in-use templates, only forced deletion (which detaches assignments) is allowed.

2. Assign a template to an assessment

On the assessment's Data quality & qualification page:

  1. Under Template assignment, pick the Template.
  2. Pick the Published version (e.g. v1).
  3. Choose Assign. (Role: Editor)

From now on the supplier is measured against that exact version.

3. Collect supplier disclosures

Two ways to get supplier data in:

  • Supplier portal — suppliers respond and attach evidence through a controlled, token-scoped link. They can also remediate gaps there.
  • Direct upload — you upload their sustainability reports / certificates into the assessment.

4. Validate & review

Extracted answers run through data-quality rules (numeric, unit, evidence). Weak or non-compliant answers appear in the Review queue for a human to confirm or correct before they affect a score. "Nothing needs attention" means the current supplier is clean.

  • Certificate verification — record and verify certificate details so a claimed certification is checked, not assumed.
  • A human-verification score separates AI-suggested values from human-confirmed ones.

5. Qualify

On the same page, the Qualification card shows the supplier's verdict.

  • If it says "No qualification snapshot yet", choose Recompute to generate one.
  • A snapshot is a dated, frozen result: it pins the template version, the rules, and the evidence at that moment. Recompute after new data comes in.

You also get a gap report per supplier — specific remediation steps, not just a number — and a side-by-side matrix suitable for a board deck.

6. Lock & legal hold

Under Governance — lock & legal hold:

  • Lock / freeze report — freezes the assessment so responses and scores can no longer be edited. Use this for a signed-off, audit snapshot.
  • Place hold (legal hold) — blocks deletion/purge of this assessment's data even under retention rules. Use when data must be preserved for litigation or audit. "No active holds" means none is placed.

7. Export

Export an audit-ready package for SEBI filings or client compliance requests.

Notes on claims

DocIQ scores against BRSR, GRI, ISO 14001, TCFD, and SASB from the supplier's own disclosures. It does not itself issue certifications — it helps you assess and evidence them.
